A Lifelong Passion

Ballet has been part of me since childhood. I fell in love with it as a young dancer, and that love never faded; the grace, the discipline, the quiet beauty of a studio filled with morning light and a pair of well-worn shoes waiting by the barre.

There is something about ballet that stays with you. The music, the stillness before the first step, the way a dancer can say everything without a single word. These are the feelings I carried with me long after my dancing years, and they are the feelings I return to every time I stand in front of a blank canvas.

Today that same passion guides my brush. Every ballet painting I create is drawn from those early years and the joy I still feel whenever I see a ballerina move. I am not painting a performance; I am painting a memory, an emotion, a love that began when I was a child and has never let go.

Biography

The Rhythms of Tides
& Sculpted Waters

Born in Beirut, Lebanon, and raised by the Mediterranean Sea, Zalfa Kasti now lives in Vermont, United States, carrying with her an early fascination with the color, horizon, movement, and changing rhythms of water that continue to echo through her memories. Deeply inspired by European culture and her background as a former ballet dancer, she brings an intuitive understanding of rhythm, flow, and spatial movement into her work.

Today, she translates that sense of movement onto canvas through semi-abstract oil and acrylic paintings, using expressive brushwork and palette knife techniques to create rich, tactile layers. Her paintings reflect a dynamic mix of flowing water and the fluid motion of dance, inviting viewers into ever-changing rhythmical tides and immersing them in sculpted waters.
